Network Administrator – Naples, FL
Job Description
Adaptive Computing is seeking to fill a full or part-time position for a NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR at the corporate headquarters in Naples, FL. The person in this role must be able to maintain a reliable, secure and efficient data communications network. The ideal candidate will be able to configure, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot all network equipment to ensure smooth network operation. This position is NOT remote and is on-site in the Naples, FL office. Recent college graduates or retirement age people are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Administer Linux/Windows Servers, Router/Firewall/Switches and VLAN routing
- Fully support, configure, maintain, and upgrade corporate networks and servers
- Install and integrate new server hardware and applications in the Linux environment
- Monitor and install important hardware, software, and firmware updates
- Support and administer third-party applications
- Ensure network security and connectivity
- Monitor network performance (availability, utilization, throughput, security, and latency)
- Set up user accounts, permissions, and passwords
- Quickly resolve problems or network interruptions when reported
- Recommend network policies and procedures
- Recommend system requirements and design solutions
Required Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree (completed or underway) in computer science, electrical engineering, information technology, information systems, or related field/experience
- 2 years of IT Admin experience
- 2 years of Linux experience
- Proven experience in a Linux, Windows, and Network administrator role
- Hands on experience in networking, routing, and switching on Cisco, Net Gear and/or Juniper
- Knowledge of best practices around management, control and monitoring of server and networking infrastructure
- Experience troubleshooting Cisco ASA Firewall and OpenVPN remote access
- Familiar with backup and recovery software and methodologies
- Some after hours and weekend work may be occasionally required if outages occur
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Linux or Router Certifications
- Linux scripting skills (Python, Perl, etc.)
- High-Performance Computing admin, support, or programming
- Virtualization technology experience (VMWare, KVM, Xen, etc.)
- Familiar with GitLab, Jenkins, and other Linux/DevOps development tools
- Familiar with Atlassian, OpenVPN, VirtualBox, OpenStack other DevOps support tools
- Familiar with Google Apps, Microsoft Office, Active Directory and LDAP
- Ability to think quickly and precisely in a changing environment
- Fluent in English (written and speaking)
